Excerpt from The City Bond Issues: To Be Voted Upon April 13, 1920, Vote No on All Four Propositions To the Voters of Chicago: At the presidential primary election of April 13 there will be submitted to the voters of Chicago for their approval or rejection propositions to authorize the issuance of bonds to the amount of $34,500,000. The Chicago Bureau of Public Efficiency believes that all these propositions should be defeated. The reasons therefor may be summarized briefly as follows: Summary 1. The bonded indebtedness of the City and also of the other local governments within the City has been growing at a rapid rate. In 1915, the tax levy for the principal and interest on the bonded debt of the City alone was $5,006,000; in 1920, it will be $10,289,887.
