Over 120 communities use them to inspire and educate young people to become leaders in their lives, communities and our world. Founded in 1997, the Institute is a 501c3 nonprofit organization. For over 20 years, The Institute has used the worked alongside those on the front lines of climate change, resiliency, social justice and economic equity: from inner cities to rural islands.
