This memorandum describes alternative weaving technologies for eight types of cloth (four plains and four twills) of particular interest for low-income groups in terms of both price and durability. It provides information on available equipment (e.g. looms, pirning equipment, warping equipment), including equipment productivity, quality of output, required quality of material inputs, and so on. A methodological framework for the evaluation of alternative weaving technologies at three scales of production is provided for the benefit of the textile producer who wishes to identify the technology.
