NPIN 1901: This resource directory presents the workplans developed by participants in a course called "Planning AIDS-Related Health Education/Risk Reduction" in five cities in the spring of 1986. The participants identified specific problems in current education and risk reduction efforts and grouped them into five categories: organizational, testing and counseling, specific target groups, schools, and medical and correctional institutions. They also developed workplans for 34 problems. These included the inadequate coordination of AIDS-related activities between State agencies, lack of agreement on priorities for allocating limited resources, inadequate training of personnel doing education and counseling related to AIDS risk reduction, inadequate use of safer sexual practices by specific target groups, adolescents inadequate knowledge about AIDS, and excessive transmission of AIDS in correctional facilities. For each problem a general objective and specific action steps were listed. The names, agencies, and telephone numbers of the course participants are also listed.
