Just before the Reformation, a feral child raised by wolves and a shipwrecked atheist are discovered by local inhabitants on a remote Mediterranean island. Their simultaneous appearance becomes both an omen and a challenge to church authorities to prove that humankind is born with the knowledge of angels.
