The report deals with the interface shear strength and slip behavior of post tensioned concrete composite beams. The interface between the two composite elements was positioned on the centroidal axis of the composite cross section. Eleven simply supported beams with 8-foot spans were statically loaded to failure. The effect of interface roughness and web reinforcement on relative slip between the composite elements was studied. Web reinforcement crossing the interface and roughness of interface decreased the rate of relative slip and allowed increased magnitudes of slip before failure. Interface roughness and web steel improved the integrity, strength, and energy-absorption capacity of the composite beams. The ultimate interface shear resistances determined from the tests were higher than those recommended by the ACI code. (Author).
