Frisky Finds a Home is a children’s book appropriate for grades K-2. It’s the story of a little gray squirrel born in a treetop nest in a woodland habitat. When he is old enough and experienced enough, he strikes out on his own to find a new home, as most young animals must do in the wild. He climbs a giant old oak and discovers it is a talking tree! During their lively conversation the oak explains to Frisky how important the trees are in providing food, shelter, and habitat to all squirrels. To show his gratitude, Frisky pledges to bury some of the oak’s acorns in good places for them to grow, which is what really happens in nature when squirrels hide nuts in the ground. Their friendship is sealed. The story is a fun way to teach children about the important interrelationships between plants and animals, and the need for all living things to have an appropriate habitat.
