This book contains general information about both tropical cyclones (tropical storms and hurricanes) and freezes that impacted Central Florida. This is the scope - Central Florida. When discussing a hurricane, the focus tends to be about the landfall locale - and not necessarily inland impacts. However, the author gathers as much information as possible (primarily newspaper accounts) to document the towns and their stories. Hurricanes and Tropical storms impact inland communities differently than the coast. Beginning with the earliest accounts, the focus was about citrus industry impacts. Did the hurricane damage citrus trees, blow fruit off, or just flood a locale. Florida was well known for citrus - from the earliest of times. Central Florida was a key location for the citrus industry. Great freezes will damage of destroy these temperature sensitive trees. How many "great freezes" were there?
