"As a senior sergeant with the ACME Police Department (psuedonym) I convened an Action Research project in order to create a Peer Review Support Program designed to support out employees through the trauma following critical incidents. During a nine-week inquiry involving eight co-researchers, we sought to address the absence of mechanisms that would assist our co-workers in working through critical incidents such as officer-involved shootings, significant workplace injuries, or other emotionally charged cases. Our research team included the ACME Police Chief, City Manager, a sworn peace officer, a civilian dispatcher, a law enforcement chaplain, a therapist, and a community business leader."--Abstract p.iv.
