The Wildlife Photographer of the Year competition provides both an inspiring annual catalogue of the wonders of nature and a thought provoking look at our complex relationship with the natural world. These are the highlights from the latest Wildlife Photographer of the Year competition, drawn from more than 48,000 entries from 25 countries. Alongside the pictures are the background stories, relating not just how the pictures were made and the equipment used but also fascinating information about the subjects themselves and why the photographers chose to portray them. Twenty-five photographs from the competition's People's Choice vote are also included.
