"Aurelius was a good Christian. That's what his parents thought, at least. And his congregation, to whom he preached every Sunday. No one knew of his demons. The secret he had carried with him since his youth, undetected by everyone but himself. Every night he stood before the altar of his church, made from centuries-old stone, and stared through the stained-glass windows toward the sky. Every night he prayed that God would take away his curse, and that his true self would never be discovered by anyone." Aurelius was a priest in a small Bavarian village. Always with an open ear for his congregation and his life in order - at least, until on a stormy evening a young man with beautiful eyes and a contagious smile found his way into his church and threatened to plunge that order into chaos.
