The World Hockey Association Fact Book, Second Edition, details the renegade hockey league formed in 1972 that competed against the established National Hockey league for seven years, before merging with the NHL in 1979. It was the league founded on the shoulders of Bobby Hull and Gordie Howe, and where future stars such as Wayne Gretzky, Mark Messier, Ricky Vaive, Michel Goulet, Mike Gartner, among many others, got their big-league start.
