"The town of Ogden Dunes was incorporated in 1925 as a lakefront community on the southern shore of Lake Michigan in Porter County, Indiana. ... Today it (the town) is virtually surrounded by the Indiana Dunes National Park. ...From 1930 until 1949 the lake level of Lake Michigan remained below its historic average of 579 feet above sea level. In 1952 this changed and Ogden Dunes had its first scare...
