The Patchwork Princess

Phillipa Jane, aka Princess Pippa, is NOT your typical princess. This tree-climbing, corn shucking, Christmas-tree-farmer's-daughter is nothing like the royalty in fairy tales. The Patchwork Princess explores a day in the life of Pippa, a feminine, yet fierce, young farm girl, who fancies herself a princess. With her crown of Queen Anne's Lace (a regional wildflower) and a slice of cornbread, Pippa and her little brother rule over their dominion, a patch of farmland. Chelsea Wilson Thayer's story was inspired by the life of her own family. The rhyme and rhythm of the story capture the exuberant character of young Pippa while the exquisite illustrations by Beth Snider capture the beauty and warmth of the Appalachian mountains. This timeless story is a tribute to those that call these mountains home.
