Stand In The Gap

Ezekiel 22:30 “And I sought for a man among them, that should make up the hedge, and stand in the gap before me for the land, that I should not destroy it: but I found none.” We often see fiery preachers who are quick to pronounce fire and brimstone on the ungodly. While God does judge the wicked and disobedient people, He is never quick to pour out His wrath. The workings of God often are quite mysterious. The Almighty is "not willing that any should perish, but that all should come to repentance" (2 Peter 3:9). From time to time God raises faithful men and women who would plead for His people and "make up the hedge, and stand in the gap" before the creator that He should not destroy them.
