European Union Committee Annual Report 2006

This is the fourth annual report from the European Union Committee, covering the period February 2006 to October 2006. It has been produced to inform the debate on European affairs, scheduled to take place on 20 November 2006. The Committee describes briefly how it goes about scrutinising EU legislation, and outlines the qualities that make such scrutiny as effective as possible. Chapter 2 sets out the scrutiny work during the period of the report. Chapter 3 looks ahead to work already under way and work anticipated for 2007. Then the report reviews some procedural and administrative developments since the last annual report.
