The 4X4 Artist and Poet Collaborative got its start in 2008 when Susan Sedgwick, a photographer, and Susan Roney-O'Brien, a poet, decided to join forces and use each other's work as inspiration for creative pursuits in their individual disciplines. By 2009, photographer, Dorothy Magadieu, and visual artists Carrie Crane and Lisa Barthelson had joined the group, as had poets Patricia Youngblood, Patricia Fargnoli and Linda Warren.
