Addendum To The Environmental Assessment For Pier 3 Dredging And Ocean Upland Disposal Naval Station San Diego California

This Addendum to the Environmental Assessment (EA) evaluates changes in project construction procedures and the addition of disposal site alternatives. The full scope of the proposed action consists of dredging and upland and ocean disposal of approximately 184,500 Cubic Yards (CY) of sediments dredged from the inboard berths of Pier 3, Naval Station, San Diego (NAVSTA). The purpose of the original dredging project was to provide a safe navigational depth for new Deep Draft Power Intensive (DDPI) ships being realigned to NAVSTA. Of the total dredged material, approximately 85,500 CY would be disposed of at the LA-5 Ocean Dredged Material Disposal Site (ODMDS). The remainder of the dredged material, approximately 99,000 CY, would be disposed upland at a permitted upland disposal site. New analyses have been performed based on the new alternatives for disposal in accordance with the National Environmental Policy Act (NEPA), supplementing the original EA. The.
